sunshine coast
hey everyone.
no...i haven't gone anywhere exotic. but i thought i would post the pictures of austen and mine's trip up the sunshine coast at the end of august. there was just enough time between my return from thailand and going back to school to go on a road trip!!
as most people know, i am an advocate for touring one's own country before venturing off to the rest of the world. that is the reason behind my cross-canada road trip a couple years back. oh how i wish i had had a digital camera back then! good times. good times.
anywho...never having been up the sunshine coast before, i was pretty excited. austen and i went to visit some friends, scott and lianne, and their little one sophia, up by earl's cove. they were living on a lake out there at the time.

we spent two night relaxing and playing in the water there. we also managed to visit Skookumchuck Narrows, a place world known for the fast moving tidal changes.
from there we headed over to saltery bay where we played for a bit, then over to powell river. while waiting for the next ferry (ferry ride number three at this point) we explored some nearby trails and the beach front.

after that it was over to vancouver island. courtney to be exact. where we stayed a night with austen's mom. the next morning we head off to quadra island where we managed to get into quite the little adventure pursuing a trail that had obviously not been hiked in a while. some bush-whacking was involved. the trail ended up out on the coast line. we seemed so far away from the rest of the world. there were otters everywhere. we even saw little wee baby otters only a few meters away. of course, we kept our distance out of respect and stuck to our little place on the rocks where we had a picnic.

we visited a winery (but of course), played on rebecca spit, flew kites, and all in all just had a really relaxing getaway on a beautiful island.
on the way home, we stopped in victoria and picked up a new kitty. his name is chase and he and the other cat, kali, are getting along wonderfully.
sooo...take a look and the photo album and see how beautiful our little corner of the globe is over here in southern british columbia, canada!!
